Cordierite, also known as Iolite or Water Sapphire crystals with a larger Gemmy piece of Iolite in Quartz from a very new find, Cloncurry, Queensland, Australia.
The two sliced pieces in separate pictures are examples of colour only.
This material is Chatoyant when cut on the right plane.
Best way to find the effect is grind the surface and wet the stone in good light and look for the flecks of light change.
Piece measures 109 x 83 x 57 mm and combined they weigh 515 Grams.
