Two rough pieces of Cordierite, also known as Iolite or Water Sapphire from a very new find, Cloncurry, Queensland, Australia.
The two sliced pieces in separate pictures are examples of colour only.
This material is Chatoyant when cut on the right plane.
Best way to find it is grind the surface and wet the stone in good light and look for the flecks of light change.
Larger piece measures 70 x 48 x 43 mm and combined they weigh 224 Grams.
